I. About the Novel : Treasure Island
「treasure island book」の画像検索結果

Treasure Island is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". First published as a book on 23 May 1883, it was originally serialized in the children's magazine Young Folks between 1881 and 1882 under the title Treasure Island or, the mutiny of the Hispaniola with Stevenson adopting the pseudonym Captain George North. Traditionally considered a coming-of-age story, Treasure Island is a tale noted for its atmosphere, characters and action, and also as a wry commentary on the ambiguity of morality – as seen in Long John Silver – unusual for children's literature. It is one of the most frequently dramatized of all novels. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perceptions of pirates is enormous, including such elements as treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen bearing parrots on their shoulders.

III. About the Author : Robert Louis Stevenson
Robert Louis Stevenson Knox Series.jpg
Robert Louis (originally Lewis) Stevenson was born in November  in Edinburgh, Scotland. His father was an engineer, and his mother was from a family of lawyers and ministers. Like many other parents of their time, the Stevenson imparted to their son the Victorian values of piety, industry, and practical success. Robert was somewhat fearful of his strict, no-nonsense father, a fact that would later be evident in the numerous antagonistic or spiritless father-son relationships depicted in his novels. Robert was a solid student, obeying his father’s wishes by enrolling in Edinburgh University’s engineering department with the eventual aim of joining his father’s firm, which specialized in the construction of deep-sea lighthouses. Stevenson soon rebelled against this plan and reached a compromise with his father by pursuing legal studies. He frequently passed his summer vacations in France with his friends, who were mainly bohemians and artists. At the age of twenty-five, Stevenson passed the bar, but he knew he was not a lawyer at heart and never practiced. Around that time, he published his first essay, a travel piece, and his literary career began.

IV. My Reaction

A. Reaction Point - Theme
  • 定義 Theme is the central idea of a song's lyrics
  • The search for heroic role models; the futility of desire; the lack of adventure in the modern age; the hunger for adventure; the vanity of pursuing wealth; the process of growing up and proving oneself
  • Treasure Island is an adventure tale, but it is also the story of one boy’s coming of age. At the outset of the novel, Jim is a timid child, but by the end he has matured incredibly.

B. Reaction Point - setting
  • 定義 The setting is the time, place and/or situation in which a story takes place.
  • Near Bristol, England, and Treasure Island, an island off the coast of “Spanish America”
  • All of the aspects of setting are adventure and provide a little action to the story.

C. Reaction Point - point of view
  • 定義  Point of view is the perspective from which a story is told in a song's lyrics.
  • Jim narrates from first-and third-person perspectives. In doing so, he presents plot developments that only he himself observes.
  •  Livesey does the same in his portion of the narrative. Whereas Jim describes his state of mind, feelings, and attitudes throughout his tale, Livesey is more objectively factual in his narration.

D. My General Opinion

This story continues to be popular and famous in the world. and author too.
I read treasure island first time.
I like adventure and action story.
If you like adventure story , you should read or watch it :)

My Featured Song

Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

When your legs don't work like they used to beforeAnd I can't sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks

Darlin' I will
Be lovin' you
Till we're seventy
Baby my heart
Could still fall as hard
As twenty three

I'm thinkin' bout how
People fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Me I fall in love with you every single day
I just wanna tell you I am

So honey now.....
Take me into your lovin' arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are

When my hairs all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don't remember my name
When my hands don't play the strings the same way (mmm)
I know you will still love me the same

Cause honey your soul
Can never grow old
It's evergreen
Baby your smile's forever in my mind and memory

I'm thinkin' bout how
People fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe its all part of a plan
I just keep on making the same mistakes
Hoping that you'll understand

That baby now (oooooh)
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are (ohh ohh)

(al la la la la la la la la)

Baby now.....
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars (oh darlin')
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are
We found love right where we are
And we found love right where we are

A Red Red Rose -Robert Burns

Robert Burns に対する画像結果
O my Luve's like a red, red rose
  That's newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
  That's sweetly played in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
  So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
  And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve,
  And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it ware ten thousand mile.

Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796), also known as Rabbie Burns, the Bard of Ayrshire and various other names and epithets was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide.
